Synopsis:

The use of Cone-Beam CT to provide highly resolute, anatomically accurate images of our patients hard tissue anatomy is impacting the way we diagnose, plan and execute many patient treatments. This program will discuss the main applications of CBCT in dentistry with an emphasis on implantology, orthodontics, endodontics and periodontics. Case examples demonstrating how the appropriate use CBCT imaging can lead to enhanced treatment outcomes will also be presented.

Objectives:

  • Review the differences between 2D and 3D radiographic imaging
  • Teach CBCT visualization basics with review of 3D anatomy
  • Present the main clinical applications of CBCT
  • Discuss CBCT dosimetry and risk
  • Present a “best practices” approach to CBCT use

The Clinician:

Dr. Ganeis a graduate of the University of Western Ontario with an honors degree in physiology & pharmacology and a doctorate degree in dental surgery. Dr.Gane has authored peer reviewed publications and technique videos on dental imaging and has lectured nationally and internationally on digital imaging topics including programs at Tufts University, the Goldman Dental School at Boston University, Novembera South eastern University and the Medical College of Georgia. Dr.Gane currently serves as Vice President of Dental Imaging for Carestream Dental LLC., the exclusive maker of Kodak Dental Systems and is the founder of Orbit Imaging Inc. a company that owns and operates dental imaging centers.
