Topic: Office-based oral surgery: “Pitfalls and Pearls”

The Clinician:

Dr. Ben Kang,DMD, FRCD(C), Dip ABOMS is a board-certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon in both Canada and the United States of American. He finished his doctorate degree in Dental Medicine at UBC. Immediately after dental school, he practiced general dentistry in the Vancouver area and was heavily involved in implant treatment-planning/restorations. He then went on to complete his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program at Lincoln Medical Center Affiliated with Weil Medical College of Cornell University in New York City. Given his well-rounded surgical techniques and knowledge, he was invited to assume an attending physician position at the same hospital where he dedicated his time to training residents. He was also appointed to a faculty position at Weil Cornell Medical College as an instructor in clinical surgery. Currently, Dr. Kang practices in Langley and is also a member of the medical staff at Lions Gate Hospital providing trauma/emergency service.

The Clinician:

Dr. Maurice Corbett is a highly knowledgeable clinician with vast experience and a continuing commitment to orthodontic excellence. Dr. Corbett has presented numerous programs and lectures in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, Australia, Europe and Asia including over 48 countries. His special interest is in growth and development and treatment planning. A graduate of the University of California Dental School, Dr. Corbett has served on the faculty of the University of California School of Dentistry and is a past President of the California Society of Dentistry for Children. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pedodontics, member of the American Association of Orthodontists, and a Diplomate of the National Board of Orthodontics, U.S. He is co-founder of the Foundation for Advanced Continuing Education. He served as a consultant to the U.S. Army-Navy Orthodontic Residency Program at Fort Meade, Maryland. Throughout his professional life he has been published in multiple professional journals and newsletters. He completed the postdoctoral orthodontic program at the University of California and has an exclusive orthodontic practice in La Mirada, California. Synopsis:

This presentation will cover the use of a bone-level platform switch designed dental implants to achieve beautiful esthetic results in the maxillary anterior region. With a combined clinical experience of more than 56 years, Drs. Kenneth and Michelle Lee will use clinical cases to demonstrate how to manage and treatment plan esthetically demanding situations. The use of a screw-retained temporary crown to mould and shape the “emergence profile” will be illustrated.

The Clinician:

Dr. Kenneth Lee, DDS, FRCD(C), FCDS(BC) is a certified Periodontist as well as Prosthodontist in Vancouver, BC. He did his undergraduate education at University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, his dental education at McGill University in Montreal, Que, and graduate periodontics training at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA. He is a Fellow of The Royal College of Dentists of Canada in both Periodontics and Prosthodontics, as well as a Fellow of The College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia in both Periodontics and Prosthodontics. In addition, Dr. Lee is a Fellow of The American College of Dentists, and a Fellow of the International Team of Implantology (ITI ) organization of Switzerland. He holds an Adjunct Professor appointment at the Faculty of Dentistry of McGill University in Montreal, as well as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry at the UBC, and formerly an Affiliate Assistant Professor at the Graduate Periodontics Program at The University of Washington in Seattle. He has lectured extensively in North America and overseas, and has been mentoring several dental study clubs for over 32 years.

Dr. Michelle M. Lee, DMD, MSD, FRCD(C), FCDS(BC), is a certified Periodontist who received her dental degree from McGill University, Montreal, Que., and subsequently completed two years of training in hospital dentistry and general practice at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA. Following her hospital training, Dr. Lee completed the periodontics specialty program and received her certificate in addition to a Master of Science from the University of Washington. Dr. Lee currently maintains a private periodontics practice with her father, Dr. Kenneth K.S. Lee, in Vancouver, BC, and is also a part-time clinical assistant professor at the University of British Columbia. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and the College of Dental Surgeons of BC, and is past president of the BC Society of Periodontists.

Synopsis:

The presenter’s lecture will cover helpful techniques in managing dentures, partial dentures, crown and bridge cementation procedures, and implant Prosthodontics.

The Clinician:

Dr. David Bridger graduated from McGill Dental School in 1975 with the silver medal for second highest standing over the four years of dental school. He had a private practice in Montreal, Quebec for two years, and in 1979 attended the University of Washington Graduate Prosthodontic Program. This was a concentrated two and one half year post graduate program with emphasis in fixed prosthodontics (crown and bridgework) and periodontics. Since 1980 Dr. D. Bridger has conducted a private prosthodontic practice here in Vancouver. He has been the mentor of several study clubs in prosthodontics, and has lectured throughout B.C., giving one and two-day courses. Dr. D. Bridger is a Certified Specialist in Prosthodontics in B.C. and a member of the Association of Prosthodontics of Canada and the Academy of Osseointegration. He had served as the President of the B.C. Society of Prosthodontists and as the President of the B.C. Society of Dental Specialists.
