The Chinese Canadian Dental Society of BC would like to invite you to join us in celebrating our 22nd Annual Gala Dinner Extravaganza on Saturday, June 19 at the elegant Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Vancouver.
Our Annual Gala is a well established and sought after event in which we get together for an evening of remarkable entertainment, great camaraderie, delicious food, and exquisite wine.
This year’s theme is a “Cruise Around the World”. It is a “Captain’s Night” event with delightful cultural entertainments as we make stops at different ports around the world. Between the port-stops, you can try your luck at the various gaming tables as well as bid for silent and live auctions with proceeds directed to the Dentistry Department of Vancouver General Hospital (VGH). These funds are much needed to buy equipment to treat the medically compromised, and to help the disenfranchised as well as the physically and mentally challenged patients who have limited access to normal dental practice.
Preparations are well underway on many fronts: We are negotiating with a number of cruise line sponsors for prizes and have finalized details for a Master Chef Daniel Boulud inspired Menu. Our décor group will come up with an exciting and unforgettable event.

2009 Gala Extravaganza – Saturday, June 20
Dear Colleagues and Friends of CCDSBC,
The Chinese Canadian Dental Society of BC would like to invite you to join us in celebrating our 21st Annual Gala Dinner Extravaganza on Saturday, June 20 at the elegant Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Vancouver.
CCDSBC had another busy and successful year in keeping with its mission of promoting and improving the oral health of our community.
Our Annual Gala is a well established and sought after event in which we get together for an evening of remarkable entertainment, great camaraderie, delicious food, and exquisite wine.
This year’s theme is none other than the longest running and most financially successful film franchise to date, James Bond 007. Polish up on your blackjack skills or put on your best poker face and be prepared to raise some money for Hospital Dentistry at Vancouver General Hospital.
As usual there will be plenty of door prizes and auction items. Come early to view the latest Mercedes-Benz cars and take pictures of the Aston Martin on display. You will also be entertained with all those famous theme songs from the Bond movies …

Dental Fair 2009
This year, we collaborated with dental students from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of British Columbia and volunteer dental hygiene student from the Vancouver College of Dental Hygiene, and held the Dental Health Fair at Lansdown Mall in Richmond on April 29.
More than 300 people visited various table clinics and displays hosted by over 20 volunteers. All fields in dentistry were represented, including orthodontics, pedodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, esthetic and preventive dentistry. As in previous years, the free children’s oral screening and interactive adult’s intra-oral imaging are definite crowd favourites. Over 100 children and adults benefited from a glimpse of their oral health status and valuable professional advice.
Apart from the CCDSBC Board Directors, a number of dentists, dental hygienists, dental students and volunteers were present to counsel visitors and answer their questions. We would like to sincerely thank all the participants.
We would also like to sincerely thank all the organizations and companies for their contributions to this event.
We hope that the Dental Health Fair, along with the taped dental messages and interactive radio talk show broadcast on AM 1470 in April, will continue to reach out and promote dental health awareness in the community.

2008 Gala Extravaganza
This year’s festivities will mark an important milestone for our Society as it moves forward and continues to accomplish its mission of encouraging its members to contribute to the community by promoting dental health education to the public at large and to foster and develop fellowship with the rest of the dental community.
We are also very honoured that the UBC Faculty of Dentistry who is celebrating their 40th anniversary will be joining us. Come and test your memory bank and see if you can remember and recognize some of the faces that used to hang around the old MacDonald Building.
Our theme for the Gala is “Carnevale di Venezia.” Dress up in a full Venetian masquerade costume or just be you. This event will be the closest to a real Venetian Carnival outside of Venice. You will be transported into a fantastic and mysterious world made of music, theatre, games and magic. Play hide and seek, then reveal yourself and… amaze!
As usual we will have lots of door prizes, live and silent auctions. The feature live auction is one of a kind priceless Trip for Two to Italy with a one week stay at a winery chateau. Proceeds will benefit the Department of Hospital Dentistry at Vancouver General Hospital. Come early and kick some tires, as during the reception, Mercedes-Benz of West Broadway will be showcasing their latest models. You don’t want to miss the hors d’oeuvres.
